Spring Cleaning 101

S

Spring has nearly sprung! And you know what that means… it’s time for spring cleaning! We look forward to this time of year because it means a fresh start in our homes, but we understand why not everyone shares our enthusiasm. Just remember, we’re here to help when you need it!

Indoor Air

The quality of the air inside of your home has always been a priority, but it is even more so now. There’s an airborne virus on the prowl, and all of the time we’ve spent inside of our homes to think about now too. Here are a few things you can do to improve the quality of air within your home.

Duct Cleaning

It is the responsibility of your air ducts to transport and direct air from the HVAC unit to the rest of the house, feeding air directly into rooms. Because of this, you want to make sure they are clean at all times. That’s where air duct cleaning comes in handy; it removes all of the dirt, dust, and other contaminants from your ducts, ensuring that your ductwork is distributing clean air.

We recommend cleaning your air ducts on an annual basis to make sure the air inside of your home is clean at all times, especially if anyone in your home has respiratory sensitivities.

Regular cleanings will also improve the efficiency of your HVAC system since dirt will slow down the flow of air, forcing your HVAC to work even harder. Our ductwork services include:

  1. Installation of ductwork
  2. Cleaning of air ducts
  3. Replacement of air ducts
  4. Insulating ductwork
  5. Inspection of ductwork
  6. Ductwork design

Air Filters

The general rule of thumb for air filters are that it should be done at least every three months or 90 days. However, there are a few exceptions to this rule.

  1. Kids or babies at home. Babies and little children have weaker immune systems, which means airborne pollutants and bacteria will have a greater impact on their health.
  2. Pets in the home. Pets not only have dander that you have to worry about, but also all of the dirt and bacteria they track into your home from the outdoors. So even if your dog is hypoallergenic, he’ll still track contaminants inside.
  3. Smokers in the home. If anyone in your home smokes or vapes, it’s a good idea to change your filters more frequently. Their smoke will release particles that will clog your air filters much aster.

If any of these scenarios are true for you and your family, then we recommend swapping out the air filters about every 30 days.

Drain Cleaning

Drain cleaning doesn’t typically happen on a schedule; instead, it operates on an as-needed basis. But spring is the perfect time to schedule a big drain overhaul to make sure there’s nothing in those pipes that could cause problems for you down the road. This will allow your drains to flow freely and help to prevent clogs in the future.
